Agroecology x Community Resilience x Sustainable Food Systems x Climate Change Mitigation x Abolition

Who am I?

I’m a freedom fighter, a storyteller, an artist, and a scientist. I’m someone who believes in our collective power to create a future we are proud of, a future we belong to. I look at the biggest challenges the world faces through the lens of agricultural systems. How does agriculture relates to global inequity, climate change, systems of oppression, an aging population, resource scarcity, and population health Agriculture is the basis of human society and our global agricultural systems have a foundational impact on how communities and our eco-omy function, how resources are distributed, and the worsening effects of climate change caused in part by corporate agriculture and the modern food system.

Feed Black Futures

I work as the Co-Executive Director of Feed Black Futures, an abolitionist food justice non-profit serving our Bay area community through food access, education, and empowerment. I have a passion and professional background in agroecology, community organizing, research, environmental science, journalism, and science communication.

“I believe that uninhibited access to land and nutritious food is sovereignty and truly sustainable agricultural systems serve everyone equitably.”

Find me talking about intersectional environmentalism in a short film titled “Black Like Plastic” created by the Los Padres Forest Watch and the Sea League.

Much of my work is in science communication and research reports. Find some of my sample writing here and refer the the Upcycled Certified™ Standard v2 that I coauthored and designed.

Listen to my Food Chain Radio episode “Escaping the Trap of History” where I interviewed Dr. Gail Myers and Will Scott Jr. about the Black American connection to agriculture.
